6 Week Pottery Course

Get stuck into creativity with this weekly course, tailor made to your level of experience level and interests.

During the 6 weeks, you will learn the four main techniques of Pottery; Pinching, Coiling, Slab Building and Throwing (Potters Wheel)

By the end of the course you will have an understanding of the different stages of clay, you’ll know how to prep, join, design, build and explore decoration techniques and have a chance to work with one other clay body, as well as the last lesson that is reserved for the glazing of everything you’ve made.

Once the course has finished, the next time you come back you will unveiling your hard work and be able to take your goodies home to treasure.

The studio is on the outskirts of Northiam and overlooks miles of countryside so it’s a great spot for switching off and trying something new. If it ends up going wrong and clay spins off the wheel, then it will get recycled and we try again. I encourage you to get stuck in, make a mess and gently go out of your comfort zone.

Pottery Taster

This all-rounder half day course is perfect as a gift or for beginners looking to explore their creativity.

This workshop is for one or two people who would like to experience Pottery by both hand building and throwing. In this session, you’ll choose between slab-building a mug or vase, or crafting a ‘pinch pot.’ The latter is a meditative process, named after the rhythmic pinching action used to create uniform walls. We will then take a brief tea break and have a chance to sit outside and take in what the space has to offer, sky larks and buzzards are regular visitors to the skies around the studio. After the break you will take to the potters wheel for an hour of uninterrupted spinning fun, if you are coming as a pair, you will go one at a time, while waiting, you can either have an elongated break in nature, browse the studio or watch your pottery partner and cheer them on from the sidelines.

Everything you make during the course will be fired and glazed at no additional cost- You pick the colours and let us handle the rest!
